Motor Vehicle Issues
April 26th, 2010 . by Rob HallMaintaining the motor vehicle tax roll is one of the responsibilities of the PVA. It is problems with an outstanding motor vehicle tax that bring taxpayers into the office. The training given by the Revenue Cabinet on this issue is that the office can have the customer sign an affidavit and take out the problem tax. The Boone County PVA has added an additional limit on how this problem can be handled. If the value of the vehicle is greater than $1000, the employee must see proof or have permission of a supervisor to remove the tax. I see no reason to add extra red tape to something that is already difficult and the PVA is allowed to make easier on the taxpayer. Isn’t that what smaller government is about, less red tape?
